When a family member or loved one passes away, please know that Ulu Cami stands ready to support you through this difficult time. We aim to ease the burden of arrangements by guiding you through the necessary steps for an Islamic funeral (janazah).

Here's a general overview of the process:

1. Initial Contact: Please reach out to the main Ulu Cami phone number for immediate guidance and support, or you may contact our mosque's recommended Funeral Home Service directly.

2. Funeral Home Arrangements: Our recommended Funeral Home Service will respectfully assist with all aspects of preparing the deceased for burial, including transportation from the hospital or home to our mosque for washing (ghusl) and shrouding (kafan).

3. Cemetery & Burial Plot: A family representative will need to visit the cemetery office to arrange for a grave location. When choosing a plot at Laurel Grove Cemetery, kindly inform them that the funeral is being arranged through Ulu Cami. This will ensure the deceased is interred in the section thoughtfully reserved for Muslim burials.

Community Support for Bereaved Families

To further assist families during their bereavement, Ulu Cami facilitates a crowdfunding for support. This service is offered regardless of financial hardship.

How it Works:

• Crowdfunding: Ulu Cami will set up and manage a dedicated online support fund on their behalf.

• Anonymous: Donations will be anonymous to the bereaved families.

• Transparency: All funds collected through these mosque-facilitated initiatives are managed with complete transparency. 100% of the contributions (after any processing fees from the online platform, if applicable) are directed to the bereaved family to assist with their needs.

• Announcements: When a support fund is active for a specific family, a direct link will be shared within our community communications (e.g., via our WhatsApp community group).

How to Contribute:

If you wish to offer financial support to a bereaved family, please look for specific announcements from Ulu Cami that will include a direct link to their designated support fund. These announcements will be made in the "Janazah Announcements" channel in our WhatsApp community.
